The Rehearsal Hall is where leaders learn how to use stories, mindfulness, and theatre practices to unlock their true awesome.

About

The rehearsal hall is one of the most magical places in a physical theatre. It’s a room where the creative team practices, tests, and explores performance expression without an audience. Actors come in with a limited understanding of their characters — and through playing and experimenting, they find their meaning and action and step into their character’s heart and mind. This usually takes 3-6 weeks, and then they perform. This pre-work sets them up to be magic when with an audience.

I love that every professional theatre has a room just for this. When I moved from teaching in a professional theatre to coaching leaders in corporate spaces — I thought they needed a rehearsal hall. A space to practice leadership techniques, nurture artful expression and presence, and get feedback.

This is that space.

The Rehearsal Hall gives you a short lesson on a specific aspect of incredible leaders. Plus, a related creative exercise to rehearse — hoping that the exercise opens something within you that helps you be the leader you want to be.

I offer these exercises to you because leadership is an art and specialty that requires deep attention, creativity, and opening. It is unlikely you have done any of these exercises in traditional leadership training; most are time-tested exercises from theatre, visual art, and meditation that I’ve merged into my Kerri way of teaching. I’m excited to see what these practices open for you.

Every other Thursday, I share Studio Notes based on your questions, practice reports, and insights from the Rehearsal Hall work.

About me

I’m Kerri Twigg. I’ve spent the last 20+ years weaving drama, mindfulness, and storytelling techniques to help people know and express their inner and outer awesome. I’ve worked in professional theatres, art centres, art galleries, HR firms, and my business, Career Stories Consulting. My book (Amazon and McNally Robinson best-seller), “The Career Stories Method,” and my TEDx talk are used internationally to help people use stories to find their awesome and ideal work.

After working for myself for five years, I downsized my coaching business significantly. I took a role with the Province of Manitoba, where I designed and am building out a customized Leadership Development Framework for over 6,000 leaders.

The Rehearsal Hall is where I share leadership research, ideas, meditations, and short classes that are less conventional but impactful.

This space is for leaders at all levels and industries. Still, I’m the most familiar with leaders from creative fields (theatres, galleries, marketing firms), community organizations, B-Corps, and tech companies.

If you’re looking for advice on how to land in that field, you’ll be well-served by my book, The Career Stories Method. The Rehearsal Hall is for leadership development.

How does The Rehearsal Hall work?

Free

  • All posts are free and generally follow this publishing schedule:

    • Monday Meditations (the inner story):  This Monday feature gives you short meditation practices that give relief and support fulfillment, self-understanding, improved behaviour, and connection. I share a recording (usually 10 minutes long), practice notes, and answer questions from the week before. The story you tell yourself is as important, if not more important, than the story you model in your work. Monday Meditations support an intentional inner story.

    • Rehearsal Hall + Prompts/Exercises (the external story): Every second Thursday, you receive an in-depth article on a specific element of leadership development and a creative exercise related to that topic. This is to help develop your external story — how you show up in your work. The labs are based on specific leadership skills like visioning, sensing, influential assertiveness, physical leadership presence, reciprocity, and more topics that research/our conversations point to.

    • Studio Notes: Every other Thursday, I answer questions about the Rehearsal Hall exercise and give feedback, advice, and additional support based on your reports and experiences. This is like the director’s notes to actors. Small insights and direction that can deepen your leadership art.

Seasonal Intensives

  • A few times a year, I lead month-long intensives, like “Leading from Your Roots” intensive in March. The “Leadership Story Camp” in May, and the “Deep Meditation for Career Growth” intensive in October. These, and my regular meditation training group can be found at courses.career-stories.com
