Monday Meditation: the heart of your leadership
Every leader has a part inside them that is the centre of their leadership. It is the place that called them to be a leader in the first place. That part inside of them where they are led to make a difference through people.
Over time, a leader can lose connection to their centre. This can happen through over-work, stress, over-reliance on theories or techniques, or fatigue. If this happens for a long period, you'll wonder why the person was even drawn to leadership in the first place, "They don't like, trust, or appreciate people; why are they in charge?"
When a leader is in their ideal expression mode, they are moving their leadership centre. They wouldn't call it this, they would say they were "just leading." Or "doing the obvious." But, only centred leaders can lead from a just doing place.
Today’s meditation
Today's meditation, is a simple one -- how to find and sit with the heart of your leadership.
Tomorrow, I'm leading a workshop to teach people how to listen and move from this leadership centre and how to build trust from this place -- but the work today, and maybe this week or month is to simply find the spot once a day.
It might feel like a homecoming.
Post-practice prompts:
Did you find your leadership centre
Where is it in your body?
How much space does it take up?
How did it feel to witness this spot within yourself?
